/pub/yeast/data_download/sequence/genomic_sequence/chromosomes/fasta/

Contains current DNA sequences from the yeast systematic sequencing
projects for all the chromosomes and the mitochondrial DNA, in
compressed fasta format. Individual chromosome sequence files are
updated whenever there is a change in the chromosomal sequence stored
in SGD.

------
NOTES:
------

These files do not include sequences for the 2 micron plasmid or ORFs
encoded on the 2 micron plasmid.

Sequence for the 2 micron plasmid can be obtained from GenBank at
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/viewer.fcgi?db=nucleotide&val=nc_001398.

The start coordinate of the 2 micron plasmid sequence in SGD, in both
the database and on the FTP site, has been shifted 1 kb upstream
relative to that provided in the GenBank record cited above. As a
result, the 2 micron plasmid sequence in SGD starts upstream of FLP1
rather than in the middle of the FLP1 coding region.

The fasta directory is provided for your convenience. That
directory does not contain the true FASTA files, rather UNIX soft
links to the true files. Thus the modification dates provided for
files within the fasta directory DO NOT represent the last
modification dates of the chromosomal sequences. To obtain that
information look at the true files (that end in '.fsa') at:

  ftp://ftp.yeastgenome.org/yeast/data_download/sequence/NCBI_genome_source/
